What "Clueless" Taught Me

I first watched Clueless when I was 10 years old, and let me tell ya, as the youngest of three brothers and three sisters, and as a girl who grew up on the East Coast, I was in awe of what I had watched. Who were these pretty girls, and where did they get their pretty clothing? Is that what California in the 90s was like? I wanted to go to a house party in… the Valley, is that what it's called? And what the hell is Suck and Blow?

It's been 10 years since I first watched that movie, and I fondly look back at Clueless as the movie that stimulated my sense of style. I also give Clueless credit for giving me the motivation to pursue fashion as a career. There have been countless times where I was having a bad day, so I would turn on my old VCR and watch Clueless again and again. Each time I watched that movie, I took something new away from it. So what have I learned from Clueless?

1) Plaid miniskirts are always appropriate. Any time. Anywhere.

(seriously though, this movie stimulated my love for plaid miniskirts)

2) When it comes to wooing your love, you should never be afraid to fall back on love letters and roses.

(can we just talk about those hats please?)

3) Don't try too hard to impress a guy that you're interested in. Just be yourself! And if worse comes to worse, he'll just turn out to be gay. It's not a big deal.

4) Oh yeah, and when it comes to finding the love of your life, sometimes you have to ignore your dumbass friends and see that he's been right in front of you all along.

(no offense to Cher or Dionne)

5) You know, it's not a bad thing to realize that you don't know what you're doing. Just think things over, and soon, the solution will come to you!

6) Overall, appreciate the people that you have in your life. And don't be afraid to loosen up control and let them make their own choices!

7) Oh yeah, and Paul Rudd doesn't age.

I mean, seriously.
